Manali – the Land of Majesticity and Tranquillity!
Nuzzled in the mountains of the Great Himalayas, Manali is one of those majestic hill stations where everyone longs to go at least once in their lifetime. The plush green hills, streaming waterfalls, tranquil environs, and alluring beauty, it’s a place to fall in love – truly, madly, and deeply!
With so many Yes and No’s time and again, 2017 was finally the year when I did make my way to this marvellous place. Packed up with only the essentials, we – the three musketeers, decided to take the last bus to Manali on a Thursday evening in the month of September. While we were already thrilled about our totally unplanned excursion, trust me, the feeling we experienced once we stepped on to the land of Manali was simply overwhelming. We had just heard our friends claiming the place to be a paradise on earth. Upon reaching there, the claims seemed so true!
We settled into a nearby hotel, freshened up, and without wasting any time left to explore the city. As we travelled through the city we discovered a plethora of things. The first one being its religious side. For most of us who have a thing for mythological history, paying a visit to the famous Hadimba Devi Temple took us back to the yesteryear days. Nestled on a hilltop, the environs of the temple are captivating. They effortlessly calm your mind, body, and soul and offer a feeling of complete solace. Next on the list was the Gauri Shankar Temple and Maa Sharvari Temple, which again was worth the visit.
The city of Manali holds a beautiful collection of waterfalls that are mesmerizing to watch. Rahala and Rozy are two most famous waterfalls of the city. You can camp as well as meditate near these falls and feel closer to nature’s bounty. More so, here in this city, you can also go on some adventure expeditions such as skiing, paragliding, and trekking. And, if you’re someone who loves adventures like us, paragliding is a must for you.
But then again, amid all our excursion episodes, we discovered that Manali is a paradise for food lovers as well. The Mall Road of the city is dotted with a plethora of restaurants that offer an expansive variety of authentic Himachali delicacies which will simply blow your mind. Once there, don’t forget to taste their fruit wines. Personally, I loved the apple and orange flavor.
All in all, it’s a perfect getaway for our busy lives. The moment you feel you’re stressed and wish to take a break – Manali is surely a place to be in. Just book your tickets, pack some basic essentials (a jacket of course, for the pleasant evenings) and leave. The city never fails to mesmerize you with its eternal charm.
